India and Singapore on Thursday reaffirmed their robust bilateral defence partnership during the 16th Defence Policy Dialogue held in Singapore, with both sides holding extensive discussions on security cooperation, strategic engagement and emerging domains of warfare.
The dialogue was co-chaired by India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Singapore’s Permanent Secretary (Defence) Joseph Leong.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the meeting reviewed key areas of bilateral defence cooperation and explored avenues to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“Wide-ranging discussions were held on key areas of defence cooperation, security collaboration and avenues to further strengthen the strategic relationship between India and Singapore,” the Ministry said in a statement.
The dialogue comes amid growing strategic convergence between the two countries in the Indo-Pacific region and continued efforts to deepen military-to-military engagement.

During his visit, Singh also toured the Digital Operations Technology Centre (DOTC) of the Digital and Intelligence Service of the Singapore Armed Forces.
The visit offered insights into Singapore’s advanced digital and technological military capabilities and discussions on potential collaboration in niche and emerging warfare domains.
The Ministry of Defence said the interaction helped both sides explore possibilities for cooperation between the Singapore Armed Forces and the Indian Armed Forces in advanced technological areas linked to modern warfare.
The latest dialogue builds upon the momentum generated during the 16th India-Singapore Defence Working Group meeting held in September 2025, where both sides reviewed the implementation of decisions taken during earlier Defence Ministers’ dialogues and discussed broader regional security architecture.
The deliberations were guided by the Joint Statement on the Roadmap for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore, issued following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Singapore counterpart Lawrence Wong in New Delhi last year.
India and Singapore share longstanding defence ties that include regular military exercises, training exchanges and cooperation across maritime and strategic security sectors.
