Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary, confirmed that India carried out precision strikes on multiple locations including Kotli, Muridke, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad. These locations are believed to house critical terror infrastructure used in planning and launching attacks against India.
Among the targeted sites, Muridke holds particular significance as it serves as the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a UN-designated terrorist organisation founded by Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Bahawalpur, located in Pakistan’s Punjab province, is known to be the operational base of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), led by Masood Azhar. Both groups have been responsible for several major terrorist attacks on Indian soil over the years.
Reacting strongly to India’s military action, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the strikes and warned of consequences. In a post on social media platform X, he stated, “Pakistan has every right to respond forcefully to this act of war imposed by India, and a forceful response is being given.”
He further asserted that the people of Pakistan were united behind their armed forces. “The entire nation stands with the Pakistani armed forces, and the morale and spirit of the entire Pakistani nation are high,” Sharif added.
He emphasised that Pakistan is fully capable of countering any threat, stating, “The Pakistani nation and the Pakistani armed forces know how to deal with the enemy. We will never allow the enemy to succeed in their nefarious goals.”
The comments come amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor—a targeted military campaign in response to the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.
