The Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, will embark on a two-day visit to Morocco, where he will inaugurate a manufacturing facility of Tata Advanced Systems for the production of wheeled armoured personnel carriers in the city of Berrechid. This will be India’s first defence manufacturing plant in Africa, and Rajnath will be the first-Indian Defence Minister to visit the country on an official trip.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Defence on Saturday.
The facility is the first-ever Indian defence manufacturing plant in Africa, which marks an important milestone reflecting the growing global footprint of India's defence industry under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative, the ministry said in a statement.
Besides this, Rajnath will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Abdeltif Loudiyi.
