The Indian Navy’s sail training ship, INS Tarangini, participated in a joint sailing expedition with Italy’s renowned sail ship Amerigo Vespucci off the coast of Kochi, defence officials announced on Sunday.
"The collaborative exercise, conducted on 22 November, exemplifies the Indian Navy’s dedication to fostering global maritime traditions and strengthening international partnerships," the force maintained.
In a statement on social media platform ‘X’, the Defence Public Relations Officer noted: “#INSTarangini & Italy's Amerigo Vespucci showcased maritime camaraderie during a Joint Sail off #Kochi on 22 Nov 24. Enhancing training, interoperability & friendship, this collaboration reflects a shared vision for global seafaring excellence.”
During the exercise, the two ships engaged in various sail manoeuvres, facilitating the exchange of best practices and advancing interoperability between the two navies.
According to an official release, the sight of these majestic ships sailing in unison was described as a symbol of enduring friendship and mutual cooperation.
INS Tarangini has long served as a cornerstone of naval cadet training and has embarked on numerous goodwill missions across the globe.
The Italian sail-ship Amerigo Vespucci, considered one of the world’s most iconic tall ships, also carries a rich history of seafaring excellence.
