The Indian Army’s Western Command on Sunday released a video of Operation Sindoor, a decisive cross-border strike against Pakistan in retaliation for the ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last month that claimed 26 lives.
The video, shared on the social media platform X, was captioned, “Planned, trained & executed,” with the message, “Justice served.”
The footage, which has since garnered significant attention, features armed Indian soldiers in combat gear, showcasing their operations with striking visuals of explosions and continuous gunfire. In a voiceover, a soldier can be heard saying, “Yeh shuruate Pahalgam aantki hamle se hui, gussa nahi lava tha. Dimaag me bas ek hi baat, abki bar aisa sabak sikhanege ki inki peedhiya yaad rakhegi (It all began with the Pahalgam terror attack, the rage was like lava. There was only one thought: this time, we will teach such a lesson that their generations will remember).”
The clip also features another soldier recalling the events of the night of May 9, when Indian forces launched a fierce assault on Pakistani posts.
“9 May raat ko takriban 9 baje, jis bhi dushman ki post ne yudh viraam ka ulanghan kiya un sabhi poston ko bharatiya sena ne mitti me mila diya. Dushman apni post chhod bhagta nazar aaya. Op sindoor keval ek kaarwahi nahi, Pakistan ke liye woh sabak tha jo usne dashakon se nahi sikha. Jai Hind! (On the night of May 9, around 9 pm, the Indian Army destroyed all enemy posts that violated the ceasefire, forcing the enemy to flee. Operation Sindoor is not just an action, but a lesson for Pakistan that it has not learned for decades),” Indian Army soldiers were heard saying.
The release of the video comes amid ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. The Indian Army clarified earlier in the day that no talks were scheduled between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan on Sunday, and there is no set expiry date for the ongoing break in hostilities.
The Army’s statement came in response to media reports suggesting that the ceasefire between the two sides, as agreed in the DGMOs’ interaction on May 12, might expire on May 18. “No DGMO talks are scheduled today. As far as the continuation of a break in hostilities as decided in the DGMOs interaction of 12th May is concerned, there is no expiry date to it,” the Indian Army said.
The May 12 talks had focused on maintaining the commitment to avoid any aggressive actions along the border. Both sides also discussed immediate measures for reducing troop presence along the Line of Control (LoC) and other forward areas.
India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, which marked one of the deadliest assaults in recent years.
