Indian diaspora in Jeddah upbeat on PM Modi's visit

Members of the Indian diaspora gathered at a hotel in Jeddah and sang 'Saare Jahan Se Achha' as they waited for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival. Equally enthusiastic to meet Indians in UAE, PM Narender Modi today stated he is eager to connect with 'vibrant' Indian community.

Indian community presenting cultural programme to welcome PM Narender Modi in Jeddhah


 


Many said they were happy and proud to welcome him during his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia on April 22-23. People thanked the Saudi leadership for inviting PM Modi.

 

One of the members of the Indian diaspora said, "I am very excited to see PM Modi here. We are so grateful that we got this opportunity."

 

Another member said, "We are so excited to be here. We thank the Crown Prince for inviting PM Modi here. Seeing all the vibrant colours here, the positive energy around us, we are all very excited..."


"We are proud to be an Indian in Saudi Arabia. We have come here to welcome PM Modi here. It feels as if a member of our family is visiting us," another member of the indian diaspora said today while they were waiting for PM Modi's arrival. 

 

Reciprocating on the same wave lenght expressed his eagerness to meet Indian diaspora which he asserted continues to serve as living brdige between two nations. In his departure statement PM Modi said Indians in UAE are making immense contribution to strengthening cultural and human ties.

 

While Muslim community back home is not quite happy with the NDA governemnt over passage of recent Waqf Amendment Bill, PM Modi's visit amid this controversy to a predominantly inhabited Muslim nation assumes significance. Analysts have this to say that by choosing the timing of the visit PMO's message to the Muslim community across the world is loud and clear-that Modi government is quite comfortable in continuing friendly ties with the Islamic nations and doesn't believe in discrimination nor does it intend to hurt religious feelings at any level of any community. 

 

Earlier, as a special gesture, PM Modi's aircraft was escorted by F-15s of the Royal Saudi Air Force in Saudi Arabia's airspace in Jeddah.

PM Narendra Modi is on a two-day State visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is PM's third visit to Saudi Arabia, and his first visit to Jeddah. In a post on X, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said, "PM Narendra Modi has departed for a two-day State visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
