Sixteen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan has etched her name in the annals of mountaineering history, becoming the youngest Indian and the second youngest girl globally to conquer the towering heights of Mt. Everest from the Nepal side.

Accompanied by her father, Commander S Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy, Kaamya successfully reached the summit of the world's tallest peak, standing at a majestic 8849 meters above sea level.

Their remarkable achievement has been hailed by the Indian Navy, which took to social media to congratulate the father-daughter duo.

Kaamya's journey to conquer Everest is just one milestone in her quest to conquer the highest peaks on all seven continents, a challenge known as the '7summits challenge'.

With Mt. Everest now under her belt, Kaamya sets her sights on her next conquest: scaling Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica this December.

The teenager's Himalayan odyssey began in 2015 at the tender age of seven when she embarked on a trek to the Chandrashila Peak.

Since then, she has steadily progressed through increasingly challenging treks, including Har-ki Dun, Kedarkantha Peak, and Roopkund Lake, showcasing her resilience and determination.

In May 2017, at just thirteen years old, Kaamya reached the Everest Base Camp, a feat that made her the second youngest girl in the world to accomplish this remarkable milestone.

Undeterred by administrative and physical hurdles, she continued to push her limits, conquering Brighu Lake and crossing the Sar pass in Himachal Pradesh. In 2019, Kaamya made history once again by becoming the youngest girl to summit Mt. Aconcagua, further solidifying her status as a rising star in the world of mountaineering.

Kaamya's journey to the top of Mt. Everest began on April 3, accompanied by her father and fueled by her unwavering determination.

The Indian Navy and the Western Naval Command extended their heartfelt best wishes to the intrepid father-daughter duo as they embarked on their expedition.

Inspired by her father's passion for mountaineering, Kaamya developed a love for trekking from a young age.

Her indomitable spirit and adventurous nature have propelled her to achieve extraordinary feats, inspiring countless others to dream big and reach for the stars.

The news of Kamya's feat comes days after Arunachal Pradesh's Kabak Yano made history by becoming the fifth woman from the state to conquer Mt. Everest.

Yano is also the first woman from Arunachal's Nyishi tribe to achieve this feat.

Accompanied by a team of seasoned climbers, Yano reached the summit at 11:50 am on Tuesday, marking a proud moment for her community and the nation as a whole.
