The Indian Navy will mark Navy Day with an impressive display of maritime prowess at the Blue Flag Beach in Puri, Odisha, on December 4. President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the invitation to be the chief guest, stated a Navy spokesperson.
This 'Operational Demonstration' or 'Op Demo' of 2024 is expected to showcase the Navy’s extensive capabilities while raising awareness of India’s maritime heritage.
The event will serve as an opportunity to honour the nation’s historical seafaring tradition, providing citizens with a unique view into the Navy’s multifaceted operational readiness.
The demonstration will take place against the picturesque backdrop of Puri’s Blue Flag Beach, a location renowned for symbolising the union of Odisha’s maritime heritage and India’s naval strength.
The beach received its Blue Flag certification, indicating an eco-tourism model that guarantees a clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable experience for visitors.
The Navy is coordinating closely with the Odisha government and local authorities to ensure smooth operations, including seating arrangements for local spectators and tourists.
"Seating arrangements would be made to accommodate local spectators and tourists, offering everyone a chance to witness the live demonstration from the beach," the statement said.
The event will also be broadcast live on national television and streamed through the Indian Navy’s YouTube channel, widening its reach to audiences across the country.
In 2022, President Murmu attended a similar demonstration in Visakhapatnam, where she observed the Navy’s operational skills first-hand on December 4.
