According to a Facebook post, Vanshika left her house between 8 and 9 pm on Friday evening to view a rental room. She did not return home. Her phone was switched off later that night, around 11.40 pm.

An Indian student who had been missing in Ottawa, Canada, for three days has been found dead. The Indian Embassy in Canada confirmed the news on Tuesday. A major search operation had been underway since Vanshika disappeared on 25 April.

“We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms Vanshika, a student from India in Ottawa. The matter has been taken up with the concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation as per local police,” the embassy said in a statement.

According to a Facebook post, Vanshika left her house between 8 and 9 pm on Friday evening to view a rental room. She did not return home. Her phone was switched off later that night, around 11.40 pm. She also missed an important exam the following day, something described as very unusual for her.

Friends and family members had been trying to reach her but with no success. The Hindu community in Ottawa had issued appeals on social media, urging people to share any information. They mentioned that Vanshika was in daily contact with her family, and her sudden disappearance was completely out of character.

On Tuesday, the Embassy confirmed her death and assured that they are closely following the investigation with local authorities. The cause of death remains under inquiry by the Ottawa police.

Vanshika’s death comes shortly after two other tragic incidents involving Indian nationals in Canada. Just days ago, 21-year-old Harsimrat Randhawa was killed by a stray bullet. She was waiting at a bus stop when she was caught in crossfire between two vehicles.

Earlier this month, another Indian national was fatally stabbed in Rockland, a town near Ottawa. Police have arrested a suspect, but details about the incident remain unclear.

These recent cases have raised concerns within the Indian community in Canada. Many are urging the authorities to ensure the safety of international students and workers. The Indian government is also closely monitoring the situation and offering support to the affected families.
