Sarabjeet Kaur -- Indian woman missing in Pakistan, who allegedly married a Pakistani man, and converted to Islam.

An Indian woman pilgrim, part of a 'jatha' (group) visiting Pakistan for the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, did not return from the neighbouring country, cited sources in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). As per the reports, Sarabjeet Kaur allegedly converted to Islam and married a man in Pakistan.

It is learnt that all the members of the group returned to India, but not Kaur — she was not seen among them.

Kaur is a resident of Amanipur village in Kapurthala district, Punjab, India. She was part of the 'jatha' consisting of over 1,900 Sikh members that crossed over to Pakistan on November 4 through the Attari-Wagah border. The ‘jatha’ went to participate in the 'Parkash Purb' celebrations at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and visited other Sikh shrines (Gurudwaras).

Pakistan’s immigration officials informed the Indian counterparts about this. The Indian authorities are looking into the incident and working on ways to gather more information/details about the ‘missing lady’, and her family.

The Central Government had initially refused to send the pilgrims for Guru Nanak Dev's 'Parkash Purb', citing security concerns with the neighbouring country. However, the government later granted permission for the Sikh group to make the visit.

The Akal Takht's acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, headed the group of Sikh pilgrims, or 'jatha', that recently visited historical gurdwaras in Pakistan's Punjab, including Gurdwara Janam Asthan, Nankana Sahib, and Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib.
