IndiGo Airlines has announced that it will progressively resume flight operations on routes that were temporarily suspended following the recent escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan. The airline confirmed that the affected airports, which were closed amid heightened military activity, have now reopened for civil aviation.

During the period of conflict, IndiGo had suspended all flights to and from several key airports, including Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, and Rajkot. These cancellations were part of a broader airspace restriction impacting northern and western regions of India.

“In line with the latest government directives, the airports are open for operations. We will progressively commence operations on the previously closed routes,” IndiGo stated in a travel advisory issued on Monday.

As operations begin to normalise, the airline cautioned that passengers may still experience occasional delays and last-minute schedule adjustments. “We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams work diligently to restore seamless operations. We recommend checking your flight status regularly for the latest updates,” the advisory continued. “As always, we will continue to keep you informed through our official channels.”

To assist passengers affected by the disruption, IndiGo has extended waivers on change and cancellation fees. These waivers remain available until May 22, for flights to and from the impacted airports. “Your comfort, confidence, and convenience, while traveling with us, remain our top priorities. We're here to support you every step of the way,” IndiGo added.

The reopening of airports was confirmed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), which lifted the temporary closure of 32 airports across the northern and western parts of the country. Initially, these airports were scheduled to remain closed for civil aircraft operations until 05:29 hours on May 15.

In a statement, the AAI said, “Attention Flyers: reference notice issued for temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs of 15 May. It is informed that these airports are now available for civil aircraft operations with immediate effect. It is recommended for travellers to check flight status directly with airlines and monitor airline websites for regular updates.”

Additionally, the Mohali Deputy Commissioner confirmed that Chandigarh Airport has resumed normal civil flight operations. The update was based on information shared by the CEO of Chandigarh International Airport Limited. As the situation stabilises, passengers are encouraged to remain informed through official channels and stay updated on any changes to flight schedules.
