NR Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, has gifted shares worth over Rs 240 crore to his four-month-old grandson, Ekagrah Rohan Murty, potentially making him India's youngest millionaire, as per a filing by the company on the stock exchanges.
According to the exchange filing, Ekagrah now possesses 15,00,000 shares, equivalent to a 0.04 per cent stake, in India's second-largest information technology services company.
Ekagrah, born in November 2023, is the son of Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan. He is the third grandchild of Narayan and Sudha Murty, who also have two granddaughters through their daughter Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Following this transfer, Narayana Murthy's ownership stake in Infosys has decreased from 0.40 per cent to 0.36 per cent. The transaction occurred "off-market" on March 15.
Sudha Murty, recently sworn in as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, holds a 0.83 per cent stake in Infosys, valued at approximately Rs 5,600 crore at current market prices.
She previously disclosed that she gave Narayana Murthy Rs 10,000 as seed capital to establish Infosys, retaining only Rs 250 from her savings due to perceived risk arising from his earlier business ventures.
