A photo released by Delhi Customs shows the 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max devices seized from a woman passenger at the international airport, concealed inside her vanity bag.

Customs officials at Delhi’s international airport seized 26 newly-launched iPhone 16 Pro Max devices from a woman arriving from Hong Kong on Tuesday. The phones were concealed in a vanity bag, wrapped in tissue paper.

The woman, in her late 30s, was intercepted after disembarking her flight, and a detailed search of her belongings uncovered the concealed smartphones, according to a statement released by the Customs department on Wednesday.

The department pegged the total tariff value of the seized iPhones at Rs 30.66 lakh, with the consignment's market price in India exceeding Rs 37 lakh, based on Apple India’s current rates.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple's latest flagship, launched globally last month and has since been in high demand.

While no arrest has been made, officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine if the woman acted alone or as part of a larger smuggling operation.

The seized devices were confiscated under Apple's latest flagship, 1962, and further inquiries are ongoing.

The Customs department continues to monitor and enforce regulations regarding the importing of high-value electronic goods, the customs statement maintained.
