The Congress party has released a list of 40 star campaigners, including LOP Rahul Gandhi, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, CCP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and also Priyanka Gandhi, for the first phase of the assembly elections due on September 18.
The list was announced by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Saturday.
Other prominent namess included in the list are Jairam Ramesh, Ambika Soni, Ajay Maken, Salman Khurshid, and Kanhaiya Kumar.
The list includes Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot.
The elections to the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1, and results will now be announced on October 8 instead of October 4.
This will be the first election in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 and the first Assembly election since 2014.
Experts suggest that the resurgent Congress, after their recent surprising performance in the Lok Sabha elections will be giving a tough fight to the crisis-hit BJP in the Jammu region.
For this election, the Congress is in alliance with the National Conference.
Other campaigners for the Congress include Rajani Patil, Rajiv Shukla, Manish Tewari, Imran Pratapgarhi, Kishori Lal Sharma, Ranjit Ranjan, Raman Bhalla, Bharatsinh Solanki, Tarachand, Tariq Hameed Karra, Chaudhary Lal Singh, and Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed.
Imran Masood, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Pawan Khera, Supriya Shrinate, Mukesh Agnihotri, Manoj Yadav, Shahnawaz Chaudhary, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Rajesh Lilothia, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Alka Lamba, Syed Nasir Hussain, Srinivas B.V., Vikar Rasool Wani, and Neeraj Kundan have also been included in the list.
