In a warning to India's neighbouring country, Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that Pakistan was attempting to disrupt peace in Jammu.
Every drop of blood shed by terrorists would be avenged, cautioned Sinha.
The LG’s was speaking at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu, his remarks coming after a series of terror attacks in the Jammu region that led to the deaths of multiple security personnel.
“Today, once again, the terrorist country of Pakistan is making efforts to disturb peace in the Jammu division. It wants to stop its progress,” said Sinha.
There have been 15 terror incidents in the Jammu region over the past 45 days, in which 10 security personnel, including two officers, and nine pilgrims have been killed and 58 others injured.
Sinha specifically mentioned the impact on families across various areas: “From Poonch-Rajouri to Kathua-Reasi and Doda, the families of those who want to build a bright future for themselves are being targeted.
“All of you should always remember that every drop of (people’s) blood shed by Pakistani terrorists will be avenged.”
LG Sinha on the occasion highlighted the importance of unity against terrorism and called on the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, who he described as the first line of defence on the border, to collaborate with security forces.
“Your help is also needed to destroy the drug network. Those who support terrorism and drug smuggling do not belong to any community or caste. If action is taken against such people, then I think it should be welcomed,” Sinha added.
As the region grapples with these challenges, the authorities continue to seek the support and cooperation of the community to maintain peace and order in the region.
