JD(S) leader HD Revanna, MLA from Holenarasipura, was released from Parappana Agrahara Jail on conditional bail in a kidnapping case related to the 'obscene video' controversy. Granted bail by a special court, Revanna was required to furnish a Rs 5 lakh bond.
His arrest stemmed from allegations tied to a kidnapping case registered against him at KR Nagar police station in Bengaluru. The arrest took place on May 4 by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Initially sent to judicial custody until May 14, Revanna's bail came after the court's decision on Monday. Alongside his son, Prajwal Revanna, he faces a probe by the Karnataka government's SIT over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, following a complaint by a woman who worked in their household.
The duo was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including kidnapping for ransom, kidnapping with intent to cause harm, and common intention.
The FIR filed by KR Nagar police lists HD Revanna as accused number one, with another individual identified as Babanna as accused number two. Revanna has vehemently dismissed the allegations as a "political conspiracy," labeling the charges against him as unprecedented in his four decades of political life.
The case has garnered significant attention, with Revanna and his son facing intense scrutiny amid ongoing investigations by the SIT.
Revanna's release on bail marks a significant development in the ongoing legal saga surrounding the 'obscene video' controversy and the subsequent allegations leveled against him and his family.
As the investigations continue, the case underscores the complex interplay between politics and law enforcement in Karnataka's tumultuous political landscape.
