Assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases, on November 13 and November 20, with counting scheduled for November 23, the Election Commission (ECI) announced on Tuesday, October 15.
Dates for Assembly elections were also announced simultaneously, with November 20 set for a single-phase election.
In its schedule announced today the ECI notification said polling would be held in 43 Assembly constituencies in Phase-1 on November 13 and and in 38 Assembly constituencies in phase-2 on November 20.
The date of issue of gazette notification was October 18 for phase-1 and October 22 for phase-2.
Nominations are to be filed till October 25 for the first phase and October 30 for the second phase, and will be scrutinised on October 28 and October 30, respectively.
The last day for withdrawal of candidatures is October 30 (phase-1) and November 1 (phase-2).
Counting of votes for both phases will be on November 23, ECI said.
The 81-member legislative Assembly in Jharkhand comprises 44 general, 9 scheduled Caste (SC), and 28 Scheduled Tribe (ST) constituencies.
A Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren is currently in power in the state.
It is likely to face a tough fight this time round with the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is promising development of the state and accusing the ruling dispensation of corruption.
