The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Jharkhand Police today detained five suspects from Dhanbad district. Weapons have also been recovered from them.
Sources stated that the ATS team raided the Wasseypur area of Dhanbad on Saturday morning, acting on secret information. The team conducted searches around Noori Masjid in Wasseypur and also raided the Aman Society located in Gaffar Colony.
According to reports, the ATS has arrested five individuals, including Ayan Javed, Yusuf, and Kaushar. All are currently being interrogated by ATS officials at a secure location. Further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the questioning.
In August last year, Jharkhand ATS, along with Delhi Police, raided a total of 16 locations across Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Lohardaga. Following these raids, the ATS arrested nine suspects.
Among those arrested was Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed, a radiologist working at Medica Hospital in Ranchi. Dr Ahmed was detained from an apartment in the Bariatu area of Ranchi, where he had been working as a radiologist for six years.
According to sources, Dr Ishtiaq is believed to be the mastermind of the Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) terrorist organisation. He was allegedly planning to turn India into an Islamic state.
Following the nationwide crackdown against terrorists after the Pahalgam attack, this is the first operation carried out by the Jharkhand ATS in the state.
