Security forces dismantled a Maoists’ hideout and recovered a substantial cache of explosives in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Tuesday.
A total of 21 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a stockpile of detonators were recovered during an anti-Naxal operation in the Kolhan region. The operation, led by senior officials and personnel from the CRPF’s 209, 203, and 205 battalions, was supported by state police forces.
The operation, which lasted several days, was launched based on credible intelligence about Naxal movements in the Podahat area. Security forces executed a well-coordinated action plan, deploying teams to search and secure the region.
The forces dismantled the Maoists' setup near Serengdanga village, under Toklo Police Station in the West Singhbhum district. They recovered 12 IEDs, each weighing 2 kg, 9 IEDs, each weighing 1 kg, and a stockpile of detonators labelled as “Stick-55”.
The 21 IEDs were safely defused by the bomb disposal team, averting potential harm to both security personnel and civilians.
“This operation demonstrates the strong coordination between state police and paramilitary forces and the effective use of intelligence,” stated a senior official.
Officials also emphasised the importance of proactive measures to combat extremist threats and protect public safety.
An official remarked, “To ensure the safety of residents in areas prone to Naxal activity, we have adopted a proactive approach by bolstering our security presence. Our goal is to deter any malicious activities and maintain law and order in the region.”
