Popular microblogging website ‘ X’ (formerly known as Twitter) has suspended its Jharkhand Congress handle after a case was registered by Delhi police in the morphed video case of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Suspending the account X has written that the account has been suspended due to a legal demand.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police had registered an FIR in the case on April 28 after a deep fake video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah had surfaced on the website.
Delhi Police has also summoned Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur for questioning on May 02.
He has been asked to appear in person at IFSO Office Special Cell Delhi Police on May 2. The deep fake video was also shared from Jharkhand Congress's X handle.
In response to the notice of Delhi Police, Thakur had said that he is talking to his lawyer in this matter and only after that he will take his next step.
According to the notice, Rajesh Thakur has been asked to bring the source of the video tweeted. He has been asked to bring the video uploaded on X from whichever mobile/laptop/tablet.
He has also been asked to bring whatever electronic device was used to record the related video.
It has also been said that if the notice is ignored, criminal proceedings will be initiated under section 91/160 of CrPC.
