Indian women’s hockey players Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan were handed ownership documents for residential land in Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday.
The two players were allotted a 3,750-square-foot plot in the residential colony located at Harmu in Ranchi. Former Indian skipper M S Dhoni also has a house in Harmu Housing Colony.
This honour has been bestowed upon the players for their outstanding performances in hockey and for bringing laurels to the state and the country.
Praising the players on the occasion, Soren said that the two promising daughters of Jharkhand have not only brought glory to the state but also to the entire country with their skill and dedication.
Soren stated that for several decades, the daughters of Jharkhand have created a distinct identity in the country and across the world by showcasing their talent in various fields.
"Many times, through their performances, our daughters have surprised people, proving that even in a backward and tribal region like Jharkhand, significant success can be achieved with limited resources," he said.
"Today, we are fulfilling the promise made by the government," he added, announcing that the state government will provide Rs 35 lakh each to the two players under the sports policy to help them build their homes.
On this occasion, Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan expressed their gratitude to the chief minister and said that if one pursues their goals with sincerity and determination, they will eventually reach their destination.
Recently, the Women's Hockey India League was successfully organised in Ranchi.
Salima Tete is currently the captain of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team, while Nikki Pradhan remains one of the most promising players in the Indian squad.
