The officials of the district administration team formed to investigate the alleged misconduct by the principal of a private school in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand with students of Class 10 have cleared the school management of any wrongdoing.

 

However, the top management of the society that runs the school has taken the matter seriously. It has taken cognisance of the issue and initiated an internal investigation.

 

To ensure the investigation is not compromised, the principal has been asked to step away from all administrative responsibilities within the school.

 

Regarding the controversy surrounding the Pen Day celebration at the school, Maria Kirti AC, on behalf of the Carmel Education Council North Province Patna, issued a press release stating that the management wished to oversee the Pen Day celebration held at the institution’s school on 9 January.

 

“In our preliminary investigation, it was found that students of Class 10 were wearing an additional shirt over their school uniform. On this shirt, students were writing messages related to Pen Day. At the time of dispersal, the students were requested to revert to their original uniform,” she stated.

 

Kirti further mentioned that a section of the media had published information that did not fully reflect the facts, which has adversely impacted the perception of their institution and its public standing.

 

Despite this, the management has initiated an internal investigation to fully ascertain the facts and recommend appropriate corrective measures, if required.

 

She emphasised that to ensure a fair investigation, the principal has been instructed to refrain from all administrative responsibilities within the school until the investigation is completed.

 

“We will implement all measures to uphold the integrity and values of our institution. We remain committed to the welfare of the children entrusted to us by the parents. We appeal to everyone for their cooperation in this matter,” she added.

 

Earlier, on 13 January, three separate teams from the District Administration, DLSA, and CWC conducted investigations into the matter. A mutual agreement was reached between the parents and the school administration to ensure that students could continue their studies without disruption.
