Patna man arrested for remote-controlled cheating in SSC CGL.

A high-profile cheating case has emerged during the ongoing SSC CGL examination in Jharkhand, with police arresting a candidate from Patna for allegedly using a remotely controlled computer to answer questions.

The incident occurred on Sept 26 at the Infinity Digital Zone in Kurmidih, under the jurisdiction of Barwaddah police. Exam supervisors noticed unusual activity when I.K. Gujral remained seated at his system, moving the mouse only occasionally while answers appeared automatically on the screen.

Suspicious of the behaviour, the magistrate on duty intervened and inspected the system, discovering that it had been accessed remotely by unknown individuals who were solving the questions in real time.

City Superintendent of Police Ritvik Srivastava confirmed the arrest, stating that Gujral admitted to collaborating with a syndicate that had promised to secure his success in the exam in exchange for payment.

“He revealed that his only task was to operate the mouse minimally while someone else controlled the system remotely to complete the test,” Srivastava said.

Following the arrest, police have filed cases not only against Gujral but also against the examination company, Eduquity Career Technologies Pvt. Ltd., certain employees managing the servers, and other accomplices.

Authorities have seized a mobile phone from the accused, suggesting his involvement with a larger cheating network. Investigators are gathering digital evidence to trace the organisers behind the scheme.

The case has raised serious concerns over the integrity of online examinations for the SSC CGL, one of India’s most competitive recruitment tests.

Officials have assured strict action against all involved and stated that additional digital safeguards will be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Dhanbad episode serves as a stark reminder of the growing challenges in securing online examinations and highlights the need for rigorous monitoring and robust cybersecurity measures.
