Jharkhand will be honoured with the Best Performing Award for the first time for its outstanding election management in the state. President Draupadi Murmu will present the award to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, K Ravi Kumar, in Delhi on National Voter’s Day, 25 January.
This recognition is being given for the efficient conduct of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held in Jharkhand in 2024.
According to a letter issued by the Election Commission of India, Jharkhand will be among the recipients of the Best Performing Award, alongside Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir.
Ananya Mittal, the District Election Officer of East Singhbhum district, will also be honoured for her exemplary election management.
Preparations for National Voter’s Day, which will be held on 25 January, are in full swing. In addition to the national-level event, a grand celebration will be organised at the state level.
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be the chief guest at the state-level programme in Ranchi.
During the event, District Election Officers (DEOs), officers from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be recognised for their exceptional contributions during the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
The Election Commission of India was established on 25 January 1950. In honour of its establishment, National Voter’s Day has been celebrated every year since 2011, marking the importance of voter awareness and participation.
