The controversy that began over the distribution of sanitary pads by the Congress party ahead of the Bihar assembly elections has now reached Jharkhand. The legal cell of the Jharkhand Pradesh Youth Congress has lodged an official complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Ranchi.
The complaint states that the Bihar Mahila Congress is conducting a sanitary pad distribution campaign aimed at promoting cleanliness and raising awareness among women.
The Congress alleges that in an attempt to discredit this positive initiative, a doctored image of Rahul Gandhi is being circulated on social media, linking him to a sanitary pad.
Youth Congress member Shilpi Kumari lodged the complaint at the cyber police station. State President of the Legal Cell, Amrit Singh, said this was an attempt to malign Rahul Gandhi’s image due to fear of his growing popularity.
He called for immediate action from the cyber police, citing the seriousness of the matter. The complaint also mentions that this is a deliberate conspiracy aimed at spreading misinformation against Rahul Gandhi.
Congress leaders have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party's IT cell of being involved and have demanded a thorough investigation.
It is worth noting that the Mahila Congress in Bihar is seeking to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene among women. The Congress maintains that efforts to politicise this social campaign are deeply regrettable and condemnable.
Congress workers said such actions not only hinder social welfare initiatives but also violate the standards of political conduct. They urged that strict measures be taken in such cases to prevent similar incidents in future.
