Security forces in Reasi conducted a mock drill at the highest railway bridge in the world located between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per Jammu and Kashmir police officials, the mock drill was conducted by District Police Reasi along with SOG, CRPF 126bn, GRP, RPF, SDRF, VDG, Civil Administration, Fire, Emergency, and Medical teams.
This railway bridge is an engineering marvel built across a gorge of Chenab Bridge in the district of Reasi of J&K. It was constructed by the Northern Railways under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project.
This bridge was constructed 359 metres (around 109 feet) above the Chenab River in the Jammu and Kashmir region and is around 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower.
It has already made its way into the record books; the Ministry of Railways made it to the “Limca Book of Records” for “most people at a public-service event—multiple venues.”
An event was organised to highlight the significance and success of this project. The event was organised on February 26, 2024, and was attended by 40,19,516 people at 2,140 venues.
The dedication effort and mobilisation of the critical assets to the rugged terrain were appreciated and recognised and then officially entered into the Limca Book of World Records.
The project has strategic significance as it provides all-weather connectivity to J&K, which earlier remained cut off from the country during winter season.
As the recent spurt in terror activities has caused concern in the security and intelligence agencies, there might be instances in the future when these critical infrastructure projects could become potential targets of the militants trying to destabilise the region.
On October 20, militants targeted and killed 7 construction workers associated with the Z-Morh tunnel project near Gagangir in Ganderbal.
Although security forces have intensified their anti-terror operations in the region, the attacks and encounters are still surging in both the Jammu and Kashmir regions.
