The second accused in the tragic double murder case of two children in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, has been apprehended, as confirmed by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday.
The arrest follows the horrific incident where two minor children were brutally killed at their home, allegedly by one Sajid, a barber in Baba colony in the western UP district. His brother, Javed, also an accused in the case, had been on the run since the incident.
Javed, the second accused, was arrested on the night of March 20 in Bareilly, as per police sources. In a video shared by the police, Javed expressed his intentions to surrender, citing numerous phone calls he received informing him about his brother's actions. Locals assisted in catching him at the satellite bus stand, and he was subsequently handed over to the police.
Budaun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Alok Priyadarshi confirmed Javed's arrest, stating that he surrendered in Bareilly and will be brought back for further questioning. Earlier, Sajid, the primary accused, was killed in a police encounter when attempting to flee.
The investigation stems from an FIR filed against both Sajid and Javed, initiated by the father of the deceased children at the Civil Lines Police station. The mother of the deceased children demanded a thorough inquiry to understand the motive behind the heinous act. She expressed her desire for justice, urging for transparency in the investigation.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased children emphasised that they never suspected any wrongdoing from the accused. He stressed the importance of apprehending Javed and unravelling the truth behind the tragedy.
SSP Budaun Alok Priyadarshi provided insight into the sequence of events, detailing how Sajid attacked the children on the terrace before fleeing the scene. He further revealed that the family had alleged that Sajid demanded money from the children's father before committing the crime.
As the investigation progresses, the community awaits justice for the innocent victims, hoping for swift action against the perpetrators involved in this heartbreaking incident.
