A court in Budaun has ordered the 14-day judicial custody of Javed, the brother of the main accused in the Budaun double murder case. The incident, which occurred at Baba Colony on Tuesday, shook the locality, leading to a widespread search for the perpetrators.

Javed, who had been on the run since the incident, surrendered himself at the satellite police outpost of the Baradari police station in neighbouring Bareilly district on Thursday. He was subsequently produced in the court of Chief Justice Magistrate (CJM) Mohammad Sajid by the Civil Lines Police.

Following his surrender, police are anticipated to seek Javed's remand from the court for further questioning. During initial interrogation, Javed, who faces charges of murder, reportedly revealed to police that he and his brother Sajid had fled together after the incident.

Javed disclosed that he initially sought refuge at his in-laws' house before eventually fleeing to Delhi. It was in the capital city that acquaintances warned him of the ongoing police search, prompting his decision to surrender to authorities, as stated by the police.

The incident on Tuesday unfolded when Sajid, the prime suspect, forcibly entered the residence of a family known to him and allegedly launched a violent attack using a knife. The victims of this brutal assault were Ayush (12), Ahaan alias Honey (8), and Yuvraj (10). Tragically, Ayush and Ahaan lost their lives at the scene, while Yuvraj sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital.

Both Sajid and Javed have been charged under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Additionally, in light of Sajid's encounter with the police, the Budaun district administration has initiated a magisterial inquiry to probe the circumstances surrounding the encounter.
