A case of sexual assault has been registered against Pratik Chauhan, son of BJP MLA Prabhu Chauhan, following a complaint filed by a 25-year-old woman from Maharashtra at the Bidar Women’s Police Station on Sunday, police sources said. As per the First Information Report (FIR), the accused allegedly repeatedly raped the woman between December 25, 2023, and March 27, 2024, after promising marriage and getting formally engaged to her. The complainant stated that she was misled into believing that Chauhan genuinely intended to marry her.
The woman claims that Pratik Chauhan started the relationship almost two years ago by making frequent contact. She eventually came to trust him after he promised her marriage. In September 2023, he allegedly kept his word by taking her to Bengaluru, where the initial alleged sexual assault took place in a hotel room.
The complaint further states that the couple got engaged on December 25, 2023, in the presence of family members at Chauhan’s residence in Ghamsubai Bonthi Tanda in Aurad taluk, Bidar.

Despite this formal engagement, no wedding date was fixed, even after repeated requests from the woman’s family. She claims that the accused enticed her to various locations, such as Latur and Shirdi, under the guise of travel and religious visits rather than carrying out the marriage. She was allegedly sexually assaulted several times during these travels.
In a particularly disturbing incident, the woman claims that Chauhan asked her to prove her love by harming herself. When she hesitated, he allegedly took a blade and inflicted a deep cut on her forearm. The matter came to light after she was taken to a hospital in Udgir for treatment.
The complainant added that on July 5, her family went to Chauhan's house to talk about setting a wedding date, but the accused and his father, MLA Prabhu Chauhan, allegedly told them to "do whatever you want." Before pursuing additional legal action, police are currently investigating the case and confirming the information stated in the FIR.
