Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has joined his INDIA bloc partners in challenging the central government's decision on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), labeling it as "very dangerous."

Kejriwal expressed concerns that the government's decision to prioritize CAA could divert funds away from essential developmental projects towards settling migrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh in India.

Kejriwal highlighted the timing of the government's focus on CAA, just ahead of the elections, questioning why the ruling party did not campaign on its achievements over the past decade instead.

He emphasized that while the government is keen on accommodating minorities from neighboring countries, it has failed to address the employment crisis and housing shortage faced by Indian citizens.

The Delhi CM raised apprehensions about the financial burden that could arise from an influx of refugees. With an estimated three crore minorities in neighboring countries, Kejriwal expressed concerns about the logistical challenges of employment and settlement if even a fraction of them were to migrate to India.

Furthermore, Kejriwal criticized the government's priorities, suggesting that instead of focusing on refugees, efforts should be made to bring back the 11 lakh industrialists and businessmen who have left India due to unfavorable policies and mistreatment.

He argued that attracting these individuals back to India would stimulate investment and generate employment opportunities for the country's youth.

Kejriwal called upon the people to voice their dissent through voting against the BJP if they disagree with the implementation of CAA. The Union Home Ministry notified the rules of the Citizenship Amendment Act on March 11, just days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule.

The CAA rules, introduced by the Narendra Modi government in 2019, aim to grant Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants who fled from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014.

This move has sparked widespread debate and criticism from various quarters, including opposition parties and civil society groups.
