King Charles III, alongside Queen Camilla, has quietly arrived in Bengaluru for a private wellness retreat at the renowned Soukya International Holistic Health Centre (SIHC) in Whitefield.
This marks the British monarch’s first visit to the city as king, following several previous trips as Prince of Wales.
According to reports, the royal couple has been in Bengaluru since 27th October, partaking in wellness and rejuvenation sessions.
The discreet arrival from Samoa, where Charles attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, saw no formal reception by the Karnataka government at HAL airport, nor any official traffic restrictions as the couple travelled to Soukya’s campus in Whitefield.
King Charles and Camilla, it is reported, have begun their days at SIHC with early morning yoga and meditation, while also engaging in a range of therapeutic sessions.
A specialist staff at Soukya has been designated to cater to their wellness needs.
A long-standing advocate of holistic healthcare, King Charles is known to have visited Soukya on nine prior occasions, with each visit tailored by a dedicated team.
“His interest in traditional practices has been evident throughout the years,” a source close to the wellness centre mentioned, citing the King’s commitment to integrated health approaches that include Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Acupressure, and Homeopathy.
Located in Samethanahalli near Whitefield, SIHC was established by Dr. Issac Mathai and Dr. Suja Issac, and offers a comprehensive array of traditional therapies.
The royal couple’s involvement reportedly extends beyond therapies, as they are also enjoying Soukya’s on-site culinary offerings and tranquil landscape, taking frequent walks between sessions.
King Charles, whose engagement with holistic wellness has been widely acknowledged, even celebrated his 71st birthday at Soukya during one of his earlier visits.
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, Charles ascended to the throne and has continued his association with holistic health. The current stay in Bengaluru underscores his enduring connection to the wellness practices that Soukya provides.
The royal couple is expected to leave Bengaluru on Wednesday, bringing a quiet close to their brief but reflective visit to one of the world’s premier holistic health centres.
