KL Rahul, known for his calm nature on the cricket field, surprised everyone with a passionate celebration after Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a recent IPL clash.

After his unbeaten 93 off 53 balls, Rahul was seen thumping his chest, pointing to the ground, and tapping his bat in a symbolic gesture. Many were curious about the meaning behind this rare show of emotion. Now, Rahul has revealed the reason behind it—and it has a cinematic connection.
Speaking in a video shared by Delhi Capitals, Rahul said his celebration was inspired by the Kannada film Kantara. He said the movie holds a special place in his heart and the gesture was a tribute to the ground he calls home—M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Rahul explained, “This is a special place for me. This celebration was from one of my favourite movies, Kantara. A tiny reminder that this ground, this turf, this place where I grew up, is mine.”
The film Kantara, released in 2022, features a powerful scene where a character plants his sword into the earth, symbolizing a deep personal connection to the land.
Rahul, who has played a significant portion of his domestic cricket at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and even represented RCB in earlier IPL seasons, clearly shares a similar bond with the venue.
Rahul’s performance at this ground has always been impressive. In T20 matches at Chinnaswamy, he has scored over 500 runs with a healthy average and strike rate.
In IPL games, his record includes multiple half-centuries and consistent contributions. His ODI and Test records at the ground are equally notable, with a century and several fifties to his name.
