Ladakh admin bans drones ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas

Drones have been banned as a precautionary measure in view of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2024 and the visit of (VVIPs) to Drass on 25 and 26 July.

 

The District Magistrate of Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS, has issued the orders to ensure the security of the dignitaries attending the event.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Drass on July 26 to honour the fallen soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War.

 

According to an official order from the District Magistrate, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kargil , asked for security measures to eliminate potential risks to the VVIPs' safety. 

 

"Based on the specific request from the SSP Kargil, I, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, IAS, District Magistrate, Kargil, exercising my authority under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, hereby declare the entire area within the revenue limits of Sub Division Drass and Tehsil Kargil to be a 'No Flying Zone' for drones. 

 

This area is also designated as a 'Red Zone' under the Drone Rules 2021, effective from 24 July 2024 to 26 July 2024," the order stated.

 

The ban excludes security agencies, including the police, paramilitary forces, Special Protection Group (SPG), and defence forces.

 

This ex-parte order, addressing the public in general due to the urgent nature of the situation and time constraints, will be disseminated through various channels such as the district website, print, digital, and social media platforms, and by posting copies on public notice boards.

 

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, will be responsible for ensuring compliance with this order. Violators will be prosecuted and punished according to the law.
