PV Sindhu slips in BWF rankings as Lakshya stays strong.

PV Sindhu has slipped two spots in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings, now standing at world number 15 in the women’s singles category. The update, released on Tuesday, reflects her limited participation in tournaments this year, having played only two events in 2025.

The two-time Olympic medallist had withdrawn from the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships due to a minor injury concern.

Earlier, she reached the quarter-finals at the India Open Super 750 but was eliminated in the first round of the Indonesia Masters Super 500. With 57,190 points, Sindhu is ranked 15th, while Korea’s An Se Young leads the chart with 111,867 points.

Meanwhile, Malvika Bansod made a significant improvement, moving up three places to break into the top 30. She is currently ranked 28th with 44,752 points, showing steady progress in international badminton.

In the men’s singles rankings, Lakshya Sen continues to be India’s highest-ranked player. He has maintained his position at world number 10 with 63,668 points. HS Prannoy, another key Indian player, currently stands at rank 31 with 44,662 points.

The rankings are led by China’s Shi Yu Qi, who has had an impressive start to the season, winning the Malaysia Open and finishing third at the Indonesia Masters. He holds the top spot with 100,415 points.

In men’s doubles, India’s star pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have maintained their position at world number seven.

They have earned 73,430 points following their semi-final finishes at both the Malaysia Open and India Open. The Danish duo of Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen currently sit at the top of the rankings with 94,903 points.

In mixed doubles, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto have made notable progress, climbing seven spots to break into the top 30. Their rise makes them India’s top-ranked mixed doubles pair.

In women’s doubles, Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly remain the leading Indian duo in the rankings. They hold the ninth position with 59,611 points, reinforcing their consistent performances in international competitions.
