Dispute Over Burial Site for Assassinated Tamil Nadu BSP Chief K Armstrong.

The Madras High Court recently heard a plea from K Porkodi, the wife of slain Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu Chief K Armstrong, seeking permission to bury his body at the BSP office in Chennai.

Armstrong was tragically assassinated by unknown assailants near his Chennai residence on Friday evening.

Justice V Bhavani Subbarayan of the Madras High Court noted that the proposed burial site at the party office was a passage. She inquired if there was an alternative location available, considering the residential nature of the area where the party office is situated.

The petitioner’s counsel requested time until 1 p.m. to propose an alternative location, but due to the absence of an alternative, the hearing was adjourned until 2:15 p.m.

K Porkodi, in her written petition, sought court approval to bury her husband at the BSP office in Chennai. However, objections were raised by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, citing the residential zoning of the area.

The mortal remains of K Armstrong are currently lying at the Corporation School Ground in Chennai for public homage. Earlier today, BSP supremo Mayawati and national coordinator Akash Anand paid their respects to the deceased leader with floral tributes.

Mayawati also urged the state government, especially the Chief Minister, to ensure law and order in the state, particularly for the safety of weaker sections. She expressed disappointment over the delay in arresting the accused and demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

According to police reports, eight suspects have been apprehended so far in connection with the brutal assassination of the BSP leader. The investigation into the case continues, exploring various angles to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.

The plea to bury K Armstrong’s body at the BSP office reflects the emotional and legal challenges faced by his family amidst the ongoing investigation and public mourning.

The Madras High Court’s deliberations underscore the complexities of balancing personal wishes with legal and zoning regulations in a sensitive case like this.
