The choice of candidates reflects the alliance's strategy to capitalise on local support and secure victories in these constituencies.
The by-elections are significant as they will take place across 15 states, including Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. This widespread electoral activity highlights the importance of these bypolls in shaping the political landscape of the country.

Polling will occur on November 13 for most of these seats, while one assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and the Nanded constituency in Maharashtra will hold elections on November 20.
The largest concentration of bypolls will be in Uttar Pradesh, with key constituencies like Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, Katehari, Majhawan, and Sishamau going to the polls.
The outcome of these elections could influence the dynamics leading up to the next assembly elections. Looking ahead, the assembly elections in Bihar are anticipated to take place in October-November 2025.
This timeline sets the stage for political parties to strategize and prepare for a competitive electoral environment. The Mahagathbandhan alliance's decision to announce its candidates early reflects a proactive approach to galvanise support and mobilise voters in the lead-up to the elections.
As the political scene heats up, the Mahagathbandhan alliance aims to consolidate its position and counter opposition efforts.
