Maharashtra CM highlights cultural shift to stop such crimes.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed his concerns over the recent rape case in Kalyan, calling for urgent judicial action and a societal shift to prevent such crimes.

The incident, which has left the town in shock, has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for accountability and justice growing louder.

Addressing the issue, Fadnavis highlighted the alarming frequency of such cases. He stated that the judiciary must ensure swift justice to restore faith in the system.

Stressing the need for societal awareness, he pointed out that the majority of these crimes are committed by people known to the victims, making it both a legal and cultural challenge.

Fadnavis emphasised the importance of cultivating greater sensitivity towards women and girls, urging communities to work together to foster a safer environment. He underlined that laws alone are not enough and that a cultural change is essential to eliminate such incidents.

The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to criticise the Congress party during his remarks. He accused them of distorting facts and using political tactics to discredit national leaders.

Fadnavis claimed that the Congress had resorted to manipulating speeches, including those of BJP leaders such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to mislead the public.

Fadnavis criticised the Congress for allegedly editing and circulating a misleading video of Amit Shah’s remarks on Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. He called this move a cheap political tactic and accused the Congress of disrespecting Ambedkar’s legacy for their gain.

The Chief Minister went further to state that the Congress has a history of prioritising the Nehru-Gandhi family over national icons. He accused them of insulting leaders like Ambedkar to maintain their political relevance.

Fadnavis urged the Congress to apologise for their actions and accused them of disrupting Parliament sessions to avoid facing criticism.

According to Fadnavis, Prime Minister Modi had recently exposed how the Congress has repeatedly undermined the Constitution.

He claimed that the Congress, from Nehru to Sonia Gandhi, has disrespected constitutional values and national icons, which he said reflects their frustration and declining influence.
