A video showing a man delivering a cake to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi has gone viral, raising significant questions due to its timing—just two days after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 tourists dead.

In the footage, reporters surround the man as he holds the cake, pressing him for an explanation. However, he refuses to comment or clarify the purpose of the delivery, fueling public curiosity and concern.

The attack in Pahalgam, which took place in the Baisaran Valley, involved gunmen opening fire on a group of tourists, resulting in the tragic deaths of 26 individuals. The timing of the cake delivery, just days after this brutal incident, has raised suspicions, especially as the man’s lack of response to the press has further intensified public scrutiny.

Protests erupt outside Pakistan High Commission

Earlier today, more than 500 protesters gathered near the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi to express their outrage over the Pahalgam attack. Holding placards and chanting slogans, the protestors demanded swift and decisive action against Pakistan, accusing the neighboring country of supporting terrorism in India.

According to the news agencies, one of the protestors from the Anti-Terror Action Forum stated: "Earlier, the government carried out a surgical strike. We demand similar action again to eradicate terrorism. This was a shameful attack on innocent tourists."

The protests highlight the growing frustration among the Indian public over Pakistan's alleged involvement in cross-border terrorism and its support for militant activities targeting India.

India’s Firm Response to the Attack

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack and the ongoing concerns regarding Pakistan's involvement in cross-border terrorism, India took firm diplomatic action on Wednesday.

The Indian government suspended the Indus Water Treaty and downgraded diplomatic ties with Pakistan. These measures were announced after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Key measures taken by India include:

  1. Suspension of the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, which regulates the distribution of water from the Indus River system between India and Pakistan. The treaty has been held in abeyance with immediate effect until Pakistan ceases its support for terrorism and takes credible actions to address the issue, said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in a media briefing.
  2. Closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari, effective immediately. However, those who have crossed over with valid endorsements will have until May 1 to return through that route.
  3. Diplomatic expulsion of Pakistan’s defence, military, naval, and air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, who have been declared Persona Non Grata. They have been given one week to leave India.
  4. Reciprocal withdrawal of India’s defence, navy, and air advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. Along with these withdrawals, five support staff members of the Service Advisors will also be sent back from both high commissions.
  5. Reduction of diplomatic personnel: The overall strength of the High Commissions will be reduced from 55 to 30, with further cuts expected by May 1.

The Pahalgam terror attack has not only shocked the nation but also led to strong diplomatic responses from India. The viral video of the cake delivery, coupled with the ongoing protests and the government's swift measures, highlights the deepening tensions between India and Pakistan. As India takes a firm stance, it remains to be seen how Pakistan will respond to these developments in the coming days.
