Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss the state's development and invite him to the inauguration of the newly redeveloped Mata Tripureswari Temple at Matabari.
The meeting focused on key projects that could boost infrastructure, education, and employment opportunities in Tripura.
During the discussion at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Saha highlighted the importance of central support for initiatives aimed at strengthening the state's economic and social framework.
He emphasised the need for better employment opportunities, the establishment of premier institutions such as AIIMS, IIT, and IIM, and the improvement of road connectivity.
In particular, he sought assistance for the enhancement of the National Highway from Kamalpur to Santirbazar, which would benefit several regions, including Ambassa, Ganda Twisa, Amarpur, and Santirbazar.
The Chief Minister also extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister on the success of the Delhi Assembly Elections and acknowledged his leadership in international affairs, particularly his recent visits to France and the USA.
Saha praised Modi’s efforts in strengthening India’s global presence and advancing the country's diplomatic and economic interests.
Another significant aspect of the meeting was the discussion on infrastructure and education. Saha reiterated the necessity of having premier institutions like AIIMS, IIT, and IIM in Tripura to provide better educational opportunities and promote research in the region.
He stressed that such institutions would not only enhance the academic landscape but also create more employment opportunities for the youth.
Road connectivity was another crucial topic raised by the Chief Minister. He underscored the importance of improving transport infrastructure to facilitate better trade and movement within the state.
The National Highway from Kamalpur to Santirbazar was a particular focus, as its development would improve accessibility to remote areas and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the concerns and assured continued support for Tripura’s development. The meeting was seen as a step towards strengthening cooperation between the state and the central government, ensuring that Tripura’s development remains a priority in national planning.
