In a major crackdown amid continuing ethnic unrest in Manipur, state police have recovered 75 stolen four-wheelers and seven two-wheelers in just five days, officials said on Tuesday.
The vehicles, allegedly looted by anti-social elements, were retrieved during a special drive conducted between 16 and 20 April, primarily across the valley districts.
As part of ongoing efforts to restore law and order, the police are also acting against the illegal use of tinted vehicle films. Since 1 January, authorities have removed tinted films from 3,720 vehicles across multiple districts as part of stricter enforcement measures.
In a parallel development, Manipur Police apprehended four militants affiliated with the banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) during a pre-dawn operation in Imphal East district on Tuesday.

Three of the arrested individuals were allegedly involved in a kidnapping case near Naorem Birahari College in Khundrakpam. The victims were safely rescued following swift police intervention.
Meanwhile, in Kangpokpi district, the Superintendent of Police has issued a strong warning to police personnel against participating in meetings called by unauthorised organisations.
The directive comes in response to a scheduled gathering on 30 April convened by the Kangchup Area Protection and Development Committee (KAPDC) for police and security personnel from Kuki villages.
The order clearly states that any personnel attending such meetings will face strict disciplinary action for gross misconduct.
Manipur Police have also urged the public to remain vigilant and to refrain from spreading unverified information. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious videos or social media content via the central control room’s rumour-free hotline.
Authorities warned that sharing fake or misleading content online could result in legal action.
Additionally, police reiterated their appeal for the immediate return of looted arms, ammunition and explosives. Citizens in possession of such items have been urged to surrender them to the nearest police station or security force without delay.
