Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday interacted with a group of journalists from Nepal, briefing them on the progress in bilateral relations and the future outlook of the India-Nepal partnership.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Misri highlighted the “significant progress” achieved in the multifaceted partnership between the two countries.
In a post on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “A group of journalists from Nepal interacted with Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri. Foreign Secretary briefed the group on the significant progress made in the multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal and its positive outlook for the future.”
The interaction is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement and deepen ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Earlier, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also met a delegation of 20 journalists from Nepal during their familiarisation visit to India at Parliament House in New Delhi.
“Engaged with 20 media journalists from Nepal at Parliament House, New Delhi, during their familiarisation visit to India. Exchanged views on India's parliamentary system, political framework & diplomatic outreach. Such interactions contribute to stronger institutional cooperation and further deepen the trusted partnership between India & Nepal,” Rijiju said in a post on X.
India and Nepal share close civilisational and cultural ties, reinforced by strong people-to-people connections. Nepal remains a priority partner under India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.
Regular high-level exchanges have played a key role in strengthening bilateral cooperation. Since May 2014, there have been 17 interactions at the level of Heads of State or Government between the two countries, according to the MEA.
Such engagements continue to provide momentum to the partnership, enabling both sides to review and expand cooperation across sectors.
