Two of the four junior doctors who were with the victim before her death testified in court on Tuesday. The victim was seen alive with them at dinner last, watching Neeraj Chopra's Olympic javelin final, just hours before her body was discovered.
Two additional doctors were unable to testify because of their work schedules. According to a CBI investigator, these two doctors' comments are essential because they were the last to see the victim alive.
As per to the reports, they discussed how they enjoyed the food they had ordered and watched the Olympic sport together. According to the doctors, the victim decided to unwind in a lecture room on the third floor after leaving after a demanding 36-hour duty.
On Monday, the victim's father also testified in court.
The focus of the first day of the trial was Sanjay Roy, the main defendant in the case. He claimed that he was set up for the rape and murder by Vineet Goyal, the former Kolkata police commissioner.
Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata police, claims that Goyal and other officials bullied and set him up. He asserted that he was prohibited from speaking up. After junior doctors objected and called for Goyal's termination, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee transferred him to a different position as ADG of the Special Task Force.
