According to data disclosed by the Election Commission on March 21, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd, headquartered in Hyderabad and the second-largest purchaser of electoral bonds, contributed the highest sum, approximately Rs 586 crore, to the BJP.

The company has secured notable projects such as the Zojila tunnel contract and diversified its interests into city gas and media acquisitions in recent years. It invested a total of Rs 966 crore in electoral bonds.

Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd has also supported the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi, with donations amounting to Rs 195 crore.

Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) donated electoral bonds worth Rs 85 crore to the DMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, and Rs 37 crore to the YSR Congress Party led by Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.

Furthermore, the TDP received approximately Rs 25 crore from the company, while the Congress party received Rs 17 crore. Smaller amounts ranging from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore were contributed to parties such as the JD-S, Jana Sena Party, and JD-U.

MEIL invested a total of Rs 966 crore in electoral bonds between the financial years 2019-20 and 2023-24. It secured contracts for significant projects like the all-weather road tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir in 2020. It acquired licenses for retailing CNG and distributing piped cooking gas in select cities.

Established in 1989 by industrialist Pamireddy Pitchi Reddy as Megha Engineering Enterprises, the unlisted private firm initially focused on manufacturing pipes for municipalities.

It was later rebranded to Megha Engineering and Infrastructure in 2006. Over the years, the company expanded its portfolio to include large-scale infrastructure projects such as dams, natural gas distribution networks, power plants, and roads.
