In the wake of rising concerns about the safety of Kashmiri students and businessmen following the Pahalgam terror attack, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken swift action by sending his Cabinet Ministers to various states to coordinate with local governments. This part Helpdesks have been opened at various places and there is a general advisory that for the students to stay indoors.

In a post on ‘X’, Omar Abdullah wrote, “With a view to instilling a sense of security among our students and businessmen currently in other states, I have deputed my Cabinet Ministers to various cities across the country. The purpose of these visits is to coordinate efforts with the respective State Governments and ensure the safety and well-being of J&K residents.”

The Chief Minister emphasized that “The J&K Government will stand with its people—anywhere, everywhere.”

To offer quick support and assistance, the government has also activated 24×7 helplines through the Jammu and Kashmir Resident Commission in New Delhi. These helplines will help students in distress or those needing guidance and support, he added.

For any help, students and residents can reach out to the Hello JK Mobile Helpline (7303620090), Manager, JK House Chanakyapuri (9682389265), Manager, JK House, 5 Prithviraj Road: (9419158581), Omar said in a post.

As for the advisory, the students have been asked to avoid public confrontations and refrain from engaging in infalamatory or political content online . This advisory has been issued by Jammu and Kashmir Students  Association.
The students have also been asked to remain vigilant and amid growing tensions they need to stay calm. This advisory has come after reports of harassment and provocations in some parts of the country post Pahalgam terror attack. There are reports of students having been given threatening to leave colleges at the earliest. The scene is particularly bad in Uttarakhand , Dehradun from where students have been making distress calls back home.

According to national covenor of JKSA Nasir Khuhami , even as Kashmiri students are enrolled in various colleges across the country, some incidents of warning to students have come from 8-9 places . JKSA said it also received panic calls from Punjab, Chandigarh and Mohali being the places where concentration of Kashmiri students is much, besides Himachal Pradesh and Prayagraj in UP. While there are some incidents of provocations and warnings, the panic among the students is also attributed to fear psychosis factor triggered by nationwide anger on innocent killings of tourists.

At some places Kashmiri students have come out with strongest condemnation over the killings and even taken out protest march, with placards reading "Don't label students as terrorists ...." in response to a general accusation by some outfits labelling students in that light.

Amid a scene where students are reportedly facing hostile atmosphere, a case of empathy has emerged in which a Bengluru man has opened doors to Kashmiri students, as a gesture of solidarity .
