The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, has released its fifth list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. This latest announcement includes 15 candidates nominated for various constituencies across the state.
Among the notable candidates are Yogesh Chile for Panvel, Shivshankar Lagar for Khamgaon, Mallinath Patil for Akkalkot, and Nagesh Paskanti for Solapur City.
Others named in this list include Madhya Amit Deshmukh from Jalgaon, Bhayyasaheb Patil from Mehkar, Rupesh Deshmukh from Gangakhed, Shekhar Dunde from Umred, and Balasaheb Pathrikar from Fulambri.
Additional candidates include Rajendra Gapat for Paranda, Devdutt More for Osmanabad (Dharashiv), Sagar Dudhane for Katol, Someshwar Kadam for Beed, Faisal Popere for Shrivardhan, and Yuvraj Yeddre from Radhanagari.
This release comes as MNS ramps up its presence in the election, positioning itself as a significant contender in the state’s political landscape. Earlier, MNS candidate Sandeep Deshpande, who is running for the Worli Assembly seat, publicly criticised the incumbent MLA Aaditya Thackeray.
Deshpande took aim at Thackeray, who is the son of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, alleging that the MLA has been absent from his constituency over the past five years.
Deshpande voiced several complaints regarding the state of development in Worli. He mentioned that various projects under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) remain unfinished and that the BDD Chawl project, intended to allocate housing through a lottery, is plagued by corruption.
Additionally, he highlighted the lack of ICU facilities in local hospitals and the absence of private schools, suggesting that these issues reflect a lack of attention from Thackeray. He claimed that the current MLA only makes appearances during election times, with no consistent engagement with local residents.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with the results for all 288 constituencies expected on November 23. This election holds significant weight as political alliances and rivalries intensify.
The MNS, which has traditionally taken an aggressive stance on regional issues, aims to expand its influence with this strategic list of candidates, reflecting its intent to tackle various concerns within Maharashtra’s urban and rural sectors.
In the previous 2019 assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 105 seats, followed by the Shiv Sena with 56 seats, and the Congress with 44. Comparatively, in 2014, the BJP had a more dominant showing with 122 seats, while the Shiv Sena won 63, and the Congress 42.
