Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Simaria, Jharkhand, on Sunday, voiced confidence that Naxalism would be eradicated from India by March 2026 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah also strongly criticised the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) coalition government, accusing it of encouraging Naxal activity for “petty political gains.”
“It is time to oust the anti-Dalit, anti-tribal, anti-poor, and anti-youth Hemant government from Jharkhand, which is fuelling Naxalism for petty political gains,” Shah declared, rallying support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies.
The Union Minister asserted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would win at least 52 of the 81 assembly seats in the upcoming state elections.
Drawing on recent Lok Sabha election results, Shah claimed that “people gave nine out of 14 parliamentary seats to the NDA, with 80 lakh votes cast in favour of the alliance.”
Shah claimed the BJP had already “uprooted” Naxalism in Jharkhand over the last five years and reiterated his confidence that the Modi-led Centre would now eliminate the menace from the entire country by 2026.
He accused the Soren government of “devouring funds meant for the poor and tribals” and assured voters that BJP leadership would take strict action against alleged corruption in the state, should it come to power.
The rally comes just ahead of Jharkhand’s 81-member assembly elections, scheduled to be held in two phases on 13 and 20 November, with results to be announced on 23 November.
