In a significant diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met with US President Donald Trump today, marking one of the earliest high-level interactions of the Trump administration.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor emphasised the importance of this meeting, highlighting its strategic implications for India-US relations.
He said it is fairly significant that our Prime Minister is one of the first world leaders to meet President Trump.
"This is a good sign," Tharoor said.

Pm Modi, reportedly, is the fourth head of government to arrive in Washington, after a one-month-old Trump administration came into place.
Tharoor said, "Prime Minister and President Trump's meeting is very encouraging. Some of the big concerns have been addressed. On the question of trade and tariffs, they have decided to sit down together and do a serious negotiation.
On the illegal immigration issue, the only thing missing was the manner in which they were sent back.
He added: "On the defence front, the commitment to sell us the F-35 stealth aircraft is very valuable because that is a state-of-the-art aircraft... and I look forward to more details when the Prime Minister and his team are back."
The meeting, unequivocally, underscores India's early engagement with the new US administration, setting the stage for critical discussions on trade, immigration, and global security concerns.
