President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa will pay a state visit to India from October 13 to 16 at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation of Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, business leaders, and cultural representatives, this will be Ukhnaa’s first visit to India as Head of State.

During the visit, Rashtrapatiji will meet President Khurelsukh and host a banquet in his honour. The Mongolian President is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and review the full spectrum of bilateral relations. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are expected to call on the visiting dignitary.

India and Mongolia have enjoyed diplomatic relations since 1955, building a multifaceted partnership grounded in shared cultural and spiritual links, democratic values, and centuries-old civilisational ties through Buddhism. Over the past seven decades, the partnership has grown across defence and security, parliamentary exchanges, development cooperation, energy, mining, information technology, education, healthcare, and cultural sectors, according to the MEA.

The forthcoming visit will provide an opportunity for the leadership of both nations to review progress in bilateral ties, set the vision for strengthening the strategic partnership, and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Indian Embassy highlighted that India and Mongolia are “Strategic Partners, Spiritual Brothers and Third Neighbours,” with the relationship increasingly anchored in the 4 Ds: Dharma, Democracy, Development Partnership, and Digital Development Cooperation.

India’s diplomatic presence in Mongolia was formalised with the opening of the Resident Mission in Ulaanbaatar on February 22, 1971. Prior to that, the Indian Ambassador in Moscow was concurrently accredited. The first Mongolian Ambassador was posted to Delhi in January 1956.
