The Madhya Pradesh Government has greenlit a substantial electricity subsidy amounting to about Rs 24,420 crores for various consumer categories. Additionally, the state has given the nod for over 46,000 new vacancies in the health sector. These decisions were made during a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Bhopal.
During the meeting, proposals for the electricity subsidy and the creation of new health sector positions were presented and unanimously approved by the council of ministers.
Ahead of the session, the ministers extended their congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on securing a third consecutive term and also hailed CM Mohan Yadav for the state's remarkable performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
Following the meeting, state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya briefed the media about the decisions taken. He highlighted the government's commitment to farmer welfare by allocating substantial subsidies for electricity.
Specifically, Rs 6,000 crores have been earmarked for domestic consumers, Rs 13,000 crores for general category farmers, and Rs 5,000 crores for SC/ST farmers.
Moreover, the cabinet focused on enhancing the quality of health services in the state. It approved the filling of vacant promotion posts through direct recruitment and sanctioned the creation of 46,491 new positions in the health sector. These vacancies will include grade 3 and grade 4 employees, as well as paramedical staff, in accordance with Indian Public Health Standards.
Additionally, the state cabinet issued directives to integrate three state universities—Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi Government University in Sagar, Krantisurya Tantya Bhil University in Khargone, and Tatya Tope University in Guna—with the Higher Education Department to address their requirements comprehensively.
These decisions underscore the government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of citizens and strengthening vital sectors like electricity and healthcare in Madhya Pradesh.
