Madhya Pradesh Police Launch DIG-Level Probe into Katni Assault Video.

In Madhya Pradesh, a recent video has sparked controversy and demands for action. The footage, which surfaced on social media, allegedly shows the assault of a woman and a minor at the Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Katni. This incident has drawn sharp reactions from political leaders and prompted immediate actions from the authorities.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari has called for a First Information Report (FIR) to be filed against the station in-charge of the GRP Katni. Patwari criticised the state government for its handling of the situation, suggesting that the incident reflects poorly on the BJP's commitment to Dalit rights.

He expressed outrage over the alleged assault of a 60-year-old Dalit woman and a 15-year-old boy, questioning why they were targeted and demanding accountability from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the Home Minister.

The video, which went viral, shows the alleged mistreatment of the woman and minor. In response to the outcry, the GRP Superintendent of Police (SP) took action by removing the station in-charge and initiating an inquiry into the matter.

The video reportedly dates back to October 2023 and involves individuals connected to a criminal named Deepak Vanskar, who has a long history of criminal activity and is currently under surveillance.

Madhya Pradesh BJP President VD Sharma has described the incident as unfortunate. He assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible, emphasising that no one should be mistreated, regardless of their family connections. Sharma confirmed that the GRP station in-charge had been transferred, and an investigation led by DIG-level officers was underway.

In response to the video, the SP GRP stated that the footage was from October 2023 and involved relatives of Deepak Vanskar, who has multiple criminal cases against him.

The GRP has acted by relocating the station in-charge and ordering an investigation. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh Police have confirmed that a DIG-level officer has been assigned to investigate the incident further.
